Here at Bethlehem we are committed to outreach beyond our own membership. Each year we have
numerous outreach projects. Our current projects are:
Evangelical Lutheran Church in America’s Malaria Net project:
This is our third year of this project. For each $10 a Malaria net is purchased to help save the life of a child in Africa. So far our members have contributed over $16,000 to purchase 1600 nets.
Global Barnyard “Pig” project:
This year’s project is to donate pigs to help families move out of poverty. Each $30 purchases a pig to be given to a family. Along with the pigs each family is educated on how to raise the pigs and develop a sustainable lifestyle. So far this year we have donated 66 pigs for needy families.
Lutheran Social Services of Long Beach:
Besides giving financial help to Lutheran Social Services of Orange County and Long Beach we also have monthly food collections to help feed the needy in our area. You can call the church office to see what the items of the month are.
Other Projects:
Throughout the year we also have special mission outreach projects as Sea Farers, Judy’s Kitchen, Christmas Angel Tree for Military families, and the special Evangelical Lutheran Church in America ‘s “God’s Work
